TechnoTihuacan [2018-2020]
U.S.A. / 60-90mins / miltimedia performance TechnoTihuacan combines live DJing and Video Art remixing into a feature length experimental film performed live in front of an audience. The exhibition/performance/film explores the intersectional story of Latinx contemporary life. Technotihuacan examines border politics, de-colonialism, queer sexuality, Afro-Latinx visibility, pop culture, trans identity and spirituality. These videos, a mix of original creations and curated works, are synced with techno/cumbia/merengue/vogue music remixes that respond to and support the digital visuals. TechnoTihuacan not only pushes for the visibility of marginalized Latinx narratives but prioritizes intersectionality when representing our community. TechnoTihuacan uses DJing, mixing, and remixing to sew together these often-fractured narratives of Latinx life into a cohesive, large-scale video mural edited together live on stage in front of the audience by video artist Roberto Fatal and DJ Bianca Oblivion using 2 turntables, 2 CDJs, 2 DJ mixers, projection mapping software, and Video DJ technology *Technotihuacan is produced in part with a grant from the San Francisco Queer Cultural Center and the San Francisco Arts Commission
